Who runs this site

alexchernysh.com is a personal site operated by Alex Chernysh (Tel Aviv, Israel). It carries portfolio writing, technical blog posts, and contact details for consulting work. Privacy contact: [email protected].

What we collect

  • Pageview events. A self-hosted Umami at analytics.bernstein.run counts page visits and outbound link clicks. Cookieless. No IP addresses, no device fingerprints, no personal identifiers. Aggregate counts kept up to 24 months, then dropped.
  • Contact email, if you send one. If you email or use the assistant chat, we keep the message to reply. We do not add you to any list without your asking.
  • Server logs. The reverse proxy keeps short access logs (URL, status, response size, user agent) for at most 14 days for outage and abuse debugging. Not joined to any other identifier.

What we do not collect

No advertising trackers, no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no session replay, no fingerprinting. Cookies are not used for tracking. The site sets a single locale-preference cookie if you dismiss the language banner; it stores a yes/no flag, no identifier.

Your rights

Under GDPR (Articles 15-22) you can request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of any data we hold on you. Email [email protected] with the request and we will action it within 30 days. If we hold no data on you (the common case), we say so.

Third parties

Three external services may receive data when you use this site: GitHub (when you click a GitHub link), the LLM provider routing answers from the chat assistant (the prompt and question text only — no other PII), and the OVH/Hetzner data centre that hosts our servers. None of them get analytics events; only the request they directly need to serve.

Changes

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date at the top moves and the change is mentioned in the next blog post.
